Disposable face masks are a particular hazard because they can contain plastics like polypropylene that takes a long time to break down. Plastic leach into waterways and threaten marine life, causing environmental contamination.

TEI set up more disposal systems for plastic to stop it from leaching into waterways and threatening marine life.
